Pre-seismic strengthening design

A considerable number of existing buildings have been designed to comply with previous versions of Anti-Seismic Building Regulations and Concrete Regulations (EAK 2000, EKOS 2000).

In many such cases, the buildings’ behaviour during an earthquake is considerably worse than that of modern buildings. For that reason, quite often pre-seismic strengthening of the construction is recommended.

On-site audits, concrete testing and reinforcing bars detection, are essential tools in providing the necessary information for conducting the pre-seismic strengthening design study. The study is always accompanied by the calculation of the budget for undertaking the works, as well as the timetable for their completion.
