Gunite (sprayed concrete – shotcrete)

Gunite is a fine aggregates concrete, which is applied by spraying. It consists of cement and fine aggregates and is widely used for the strengthening of columns, beams and slabs. Prior to applying it, steel reinforcement is applied according to the repair – strengthening design study. The main advantages of gunite are:

• high durability
• very good adhesion on to the base material
• no formwork is required
• capability of concreting in non-easily accessible locations
