An essential process prior to carrying out an extension (additional storey) is to test the load bearing capacity of the existing structure and its capacity to withstand the additional load of the extension. Using as a starting point the existing building structural drawings (as per building permit), concrete testing is performed as well as reinforcing bars detection.
The results of tests provide essential information for conducting the structural study of the existing building, where our Engineers assess whether the existing building is structurally capable of withstanding an extension or whether it requires strengthening.
Particular attention is given to energy-efficiency and sustainability, so that the materials and technologies used in the building extension are energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. Each recommended proposal is accompanied by the project budget as well as the works’ timetable, whereas particular emphasis is always given on the aesthetic integration of the new construction with the existing one.
